Hometown Heroes Award

Dave, along with Chuck Wood, and Capt John Bean, was honored with the Hometown Heroes award in Baltimore. The Red Cross had a nice breakfast for all of the people receiving the award. They had given out 14 awards ranging from Fire fighters, Animal rescuers, police, and even kids that had done some amazing things. They had a special presentation for a few local families that had lost loved ones in the military. It was a very nice breakfast and though Dave doesn't like the spot light he has received from this one call he appreciates the acknowledgement.

Happy Father's Day

Alana couldn't wait to give Dave his father's day present. She made this in school for him. She was very proud of it. Dave said he is going to put that in his office at work! Proud Daddy!
This is what I 'threw' together for Dave. I had the kids do 2 paintings and then I put them on different colored squares of paper and put them in the frame. It actually turned out pretty cute. I sort of just came up with the idea and was hoping it would work. Dave said he wants this to go up in our room, that still really doesn't have anything hanging on the walls and we have been here a year and a half! The top left and bottom right are Tyler's and the other 2 are Alana's. She put tons of glitter on hers!

Splish splash

I went to Target and found this little mat for $9.99. I thought the kids would have fun with it. I had to turn the hose down pretty far since the water was flying every where and Tyler was a little nervous about it. But once I turned it down they had a blast with it. Alana discovered that if she stepped on one of the little hoses she could squirt Tyler in the face, which he thought was hysterical! The little diva with her princess crown, She had it on with her shades and thought she was hot stuff. I wasn't quick enough to get a good picture of it. I am sure she'll do it again!
Mmmmm, tasty water!

Tyler's first swing.

Okay so we thought it would be fun to get Tyler a swing of his own since he can't really do the "big kid" swing yet. The weather was beautiful out this morning. So I got him in it and he was laughing and having a great time.
Still laughing and having fun, though he is starting to look sleepy.
No longer laughing and actually starting to look a little green. Next thing I know I am ducking for cover from the projectile vomit! I guess we'll keep him out of the swing for a while!

Future class clown!

Alana got a new outfit from her Grandma Olson and I was trying to take a picture of her in it prior to going to school. She was in a goofy mood and wouldn't "pose" for a picture. She kept making silly faces and wanting me to take a picture and then show it to her. I think she has a future in entertainment! She will either be the class clown or in the theater (or both).

Swing Set!

We surprised the kids with a new swing set. They had no idea it was coming so when the truck pulled around the house Alana jumped up and was very excited. She said it was beautiful. Tyler kept saying Look!! He kept trying to climb up the ladder as they were still putting everything together. The family that brought the swing set had 3 kids and Alana and their little girl hit it off. They were holding hands and running around together. It was cute to see their boys hop out of the truck and go for the tool box and things. They had their jobs to do!
Tyler making sure things are running smoothly!
Alana didn't want to stop playing with water so she admired from a far!
All done; Time to play!!!
Their first snack time. Even though it was 95 degrees out I couldn't pull them away from their new swing set. I eventually bribed them with Popsicles to get them in the house.

She was one tired girl. We barely got her jammies on after her bath and she was out!

It was nice of Daddy to sell his motorcycle so we could get the kids a swing set! I think we all will have a great summer playing on this.

Jammy day

Today we decided to have a jammy day. What's a better thing to do on jammy day then paint?! We had an empty paper towel roll and a toilet paper roll so we turned them into telescopes.
The kids had a great time making a mess....I mean painting. Alana had to put "sprinkles" (glitter) on hers. She put every color glitter we have on!
Concentrating very hard. She has to get the colors just right.
Tyler put a couple lines of blue paint on his and was done.
He had more fun with paper and mixing all the colors together.
Time to clean up. He loves to wash his hands. Lots of soap for him!
