New car whaaat!!!!

The end of being the unhip soccer mom, and neither of my kids even play the sport, is here!!! We traded in the minivan for this brand spankin new VW Jetta!!! What a great trade. I will miss the doors that open at the push of the button and the built in entertainment center, heck even the fact that the kids could sit on the potty in the way back without ever having to step foot outside. But I think the joy I have towards this new car more than out weighs the sorrow of loosing the minivan. Though I will not have the pleasure of driving this fine piece of machinery very often since there was a very practical reason behind getting a car. Dave will be taking this to work to save us on gas money and I will drive the explorer. However I have a very strict policy.....NO FIRE GEAR IN THE NEW CAR!!! Case in point this morning.....it was pouring down rain and they had a fire. He came home soaked, stinky and dirty. Dave, being the very wise man that he is, agrees with me that the car is no place for his dirty gear. Yes we are now a little more yuppifed with an SUV, sedan, son and daughter, dogs, fenced in yard, and me staying home. I guess the next few things to work on to be the complete stereotypical yuppie family is a lawn boy, a housekeeper, a freezer full of bon bons, and an umbrella in my drink.....

Apple Picking

We went apple picking with the MOMS club here. The kids had so much fun. They first learned about bees and how they rent and buy bees for their farm to make honey.

We then loaded onto a big wagon and rode through the orchard. They have apple, peach and plum trees along with blueberry and raspberry bushes. The kids had lots of fun riding on the wagon.

We each got to pick 5 apples from their trees. Yummy Gala apples that the kids could not wait to get home and eat.
Yeehaw. both kids enjoyed pretending on the horse out from. Tyler said he needed a cowboy hat.

Over all it was a great day. They kids did wonderful and I got to meet some more local moms. Tyler had so much fun that he actually asked to go back there. Which we will soon to get more apples. The kids got coupons for a free small bag of apples each. Hopefully the next time we go I can look around the shop some more and not have to leave so quickly. Oh well. You have to do things at the kids' pace not yours. :)

Playing "Dave and Cindy"

Alana and Tyler were downstairs playing with play-doh and Tyler came up asking for a "Medium" box. We had no idea what he was talking about so he showed me. It was a little box that had some fire trucks, little people, and a few other things. Alana was busy playing play-doh at the table in the basement to.
Alana then came up with some "cookies" that she made for us. So Dave and I "ate" them and told her how wonderful they were. She then told us that her and Tyler were playing "Dave and Cindy"
I said that sounded like fun and I wondered what they thought we did? So I asked her what Dave does. Her reply "He's a fire fighter and works everyday"

Then I held my breath because I knew what was coming when I asked "What does Cindy do?" She replied "Does the dishes, cleans, cooks us lunch, waters the garden, changes Tyler's pull-ups, and sometimes plays with us"

I can't really get too upset about that one. She is pretty much right on. That is what I do, though it sort of sounds depressing when it's spelled out like that. :)

These kids make me laugh a lot, which is a good thing. They keep life interesting that is for sure!

My two favorite guys

It is no secret that Tyler wants to be just like his daddy! He likes to be right by him and copy everything that he does. It is pretty cute. Daddy takes a drink, Tyler takes a drink. Daddy sets his water bottle on the work bench, Tyler sets his water bottle on the work bench. Tyler says he wants to be a fire fighter when he gets bigger. He goes into the fire house here like an old pro. Knows where the light switches are for the rescue there (I don't even know where they are). He walks through the station saying Hi to everybody like it's HIS station. Soon enough it probably will be!

Practicing to be a knight in shining armour, just like his daddy. Though his Daddy is more of a Knight in dirty turn out gear :)

Picnic time!

We kicked off our summer with the first of many picnics. But if you ask Alana we had a pic-a-nic and Tyler would say picmic! It is funny listening to them and how they pronounce things :)
The picnic was a lot of fun. We threw the blanket on the back deck so the screen would keep the flies away. Plus it was a little cooler there in the shade than outside in the 90 degree heat! We got some yummy fresh strawberries from in town that we all shared. Nothing like buying local fresh strawberries.

I think this is going to be a great summer. Lots of picnics, swimming, and playing to be done! Happy Summer!!

Roller Coaster

The kids were very excited to ride on the roller coaster. To make Tyler happy Daddy had to ride on as well. This was Tyler's first roller coaster ride. We weren't sure how he would do. Alana was VERY excited, Tyler was a little nervous and Daddy was a little squished.

Alana was squealing with excitement, Daddy was laughing, Tyler wasn't sure.
Alana LOVES it, Daddy laughing, Tyler wanted to get off We had no idea that it was going to go around again. Had we known Tyler probably wouldn't have gotten on it.
Alana thrilled and wanted to ride again, Tyler was thrilled is was done. He couldn't get off of that fast enough. Needless to say he was done riding rides after that on.

Alana singing along with Glee to Lady Gaga

Alana really likes Lady Gaga and she was just as excited as I was when Glee did a Lady Gaga show. She has been watching it over and over and trying to sing along to it. I tried to sneak a video since she gets embarrassed when she sees me with the camera. Here is a portion of what she did.
